Emergency and Permanent Housing Facility

Chianis + Anderson Architects was selected to provide architectural, engineering, and interior design services for the total interior and exterior reconstruction of an extremely dilapidated structure.

Previously a one-story garage and later a two-story private social services office, the building was a mix of masonry, wood, steel, and concrete. The project included the renovation of all partitions and insulation systems, windows, siding, egress, elevator requirements, accessibility, and mechanical, electrical, and telecommunications systems. Site work was also needed to provide parking, landscaping, and accessibility.

The building was transformed in a thirty-two bed energy-efficient, vibrant, and supportive residence space. Residents start out in a dormitory setting before moving to their own room. Each resident is provided with three meals daily, case management services, life skills training, and educational and vocational resources.
