Broome County Transportation Facility

The Broome County Transportation Facility was constructed in the early 1980’s and is clad in metal panels with strip windows on the primary façade and a modest main entrance. The County was interested in updating the appearance of the building while providing a new, inviting main entrance vestibule and utilizing a variety of materials to give the building a modern aesthetic.

The design includes the new main entrance vestibule with large areas of storefront glazing as well as clerestory windows to let in natural light as well as two smaller vestibule on either side of the building. All of the original windows and exterior doors are being replaced with energy efficient windows and doors and the exterior metal panels are being replaced with a combination of cultured stone and an exterior insulation finish system. Not only will the appearance of the building be updated while providing a prominent main entrance vestibule, but the entire energy efficiency of the building will be improved due to the use of modern materials.
